Top 5 Restaurants In Jersey- Voted By Our Youth

Updated: Jul 8

Last week, we asked around 400 students from JCG, Les Quennevais and Beaulieu what their favourite restaurant was- with the intention of gaining a fresh perspective on the cuisine in Jersey and what is popular amongst the youth. We’ve collected the results and it’s fascinating!

We all know that sushi and Asian cuisine has become popular amongst teenagers recently- with the options in Jersey increasing and decreasing through the years. It is a risk to open a sushi bar in Jersey due to the mixed opinion on such a small island- however recent openings have smashed it. Coming 5th on the list, is SOY Fusion, west centre. This received 67 votes. Whether you’re a veggie, a seafood lover or someone who strictly eats meat- there is something for you. There is a vast selection of hot food to accompany the sushi, so there really is something for everyone!

Coming in 4th on the list with 71 votes- La Hacienda, Weighbridge. This is a mexican-style restaurant with a funky interior (recently renovated) and an exciting environment. They serve foods like quesadillas, tacos, churros and an array of fresh and traditional dips and salads. This is one of the only remaining mexican eateries in Jersey and remains increasingly popular amongst islanders; especially young people.

In 3rd place is The Boathouse, St. Aubins. They received 84 votes. With a stunning view from the restaurant and a variety of meals ranging from Sunday roasts to burgers and seafood platters, The Boathouse has proved itself to be a reliable choice for delicious food and friendly service with a smile guaranteed. Many students commented on the happy and enthusiastic staff in this restaurant, claiming that it enhances the dining experience and provides an enjoyable experience. We were also told that the food arrives sharply- perfect if you’re ravenous!

2nd Place: Indian Ocean, with 90 votes. Despite there being plenty of choice for Indian cuisine in Jersey, Indian Ocean is consistently voted and rated as the best option, according to TripAdvisor and EatSafe Jersey. They also offer a takeaway option with plenty of meal deals provided in order to feed a family affordably. We heard that all their food tastes fresh and is made traditionally with lots of care. Complimentary appetisers are also served to give customers a taste of the different Indian cuisines that they perhaps wouldn’t usually go for.

Jersey’s most popular restaurant amongst teenagers has been voted as Pizza Express, with 112 votes. This chain restaurant is also popular in England, providing good quality Italian-style food for affordable prices making it a great place for teenagers to visit with their friends. As much as it is nice for young people to get a taste of what is available in local, family-run restaurants- it is always good to have a reliable, consistent option that will always hit the spot.

Honourable Mentions: Quayside, The Rice Bowl, Kyoto Restobar, Awabi
